How our guides are researched, reviewed, and corrected.

Who writes our guides

Guides are produced by the Arriva editorial team with in-country contributors in Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, and Colombia. We do not publish AI-generated guides without human review by someone with lived experience of the country.

How we source facts

  • Visa thresholds and residency rules cross-checked against each country's official immigration website (DGME Costa Rica, SNM Panama, INM Mexico, Migración Colombia).
  • Cost-of-living numbers combine local supermarket surveys, published rental market data, and cross-checks against Numbeo and Expatistan.
  • Healthcare and hospital references drawn from public accreditation bodies (JCI, ACHC) and official hospital directories.
  • Neighborhood commentary comes from resident contributors and verified Pros living in the area.

How often we update

Every guide carries a "last reviewed" date. Guides covering visa rules, government fees, or currency-sensitive costs are reviewed at least every 6 months. Country and city landing pages are reviewed at least annually.

Corrections and disclosures

  • If you spot an error, email hello@arrivapro.com. We correct errors in the guide and note the correction date.
  • Arriva earns revenue when Pros pay to appear in search results. Pro placement never buys editorial coverage or preferential mention in a guide.
  • We do not accept payment from immigration lawyers, developers, or relocation companies to be featured in guides.

Not legal or financial advice

Our guides are informational. Immigration, tax, and property decisions have material consequences — use our guides to orient, then hire a licensed professional (available through Arriva) to advise on your specific case.
